How to Choose a Bedspread: Size, Style and Care

Choose a bedspread by starting with the area you want to cover and the look you prefer. Compare the product dimensions with your bed, decide how far the fabric should hang at the sides, and check the material and care information for the exact model. Browse the Trimita bedspreads collection to compare current sizes, materials and designs.

Measure your bed and allow for the side drop

  1. Measure the width and length of the surface you want to cover, including any bedding that will sit underneath.
  2. Decide how far you want the bedspread to hang on each side and at the foot of the bed.
  3. For the width, add both side drops to the bed width. For example, a 160 cm wide bed with a 30 cm drop on each side needs about 220 cm of covering width.
  4. Compare your measurements with the product dimensions and check which way the pattern runs. For the length, allow for the drop at the foot and any fabric you want to fold over at the top.

Labels such as single, double or king do not determine the fit on their own. Mattress height, bedding and your preferred drape also matter.

Match the design to your room

For a quiet overall look, choose a colour that repeats in your bedding, curtains or furniture. A striped or contrasting bedspread can become the focal point; pair it with simpler accessories if you want the pattern to stand out. Compare the product photographs, remembering that screens and lighting can affect colours.

Choose how you will use it through the seasons

A bedspread can finish a made bed or sit over other bedding as an additional layer. Decide whether you want a decorative cover, another layer for the evening, or a throw that can also move to the sofa. Check the exact product's construction and dimensions instead of assuming every bedspread provides the same warmth or weight.

Check material and care information

Read the fibre composition on the individual product page and label. For washing temperature, programme and drying, follow that product's care label and check your washing machine's capacity. If a certification matters to your choice, check that it applies to the model you are considering.

Compare Duru and Daphne

Use these dimensions as a starting point, then check the latest product details and your preferred side drop before ordering.
